This compact Tonbridge bathroom showcases how clever design can maximise both style and functionality in limited space. The curved floating vanity unit, crafted in warm timber, creates a sense of openness by revealing more floor area whilst offering practical storage. Its integrated basin maintains clean lines that complement the room’s modern aesthetic.
A statement backlit mirror provides elegant ambient lighting, dramatically framed by vibrant deep blue vertical metro tiles that draw the eye upward, visually heightening the space. The large-format neutral wall tiles expand the sense of spaciousness, forming a sophisticated backdrop for the characterful terrazzo-effect floor tiles that introduce playful colour and texture.
The glass shower enclosure ensures the space remains practical while maintaining the bathroom’s bright, airy feel despite its modest dimensions.
Working with the challenging slanted roofline required precise cutting and meticulous tiling to achieve a flawless finish. I incorporated a recessed shower alcove—carefully positioned to align with the tile pattern—providing discreet storage for toiletries whilst maintaining the room’s clean aesthetic.
The project was completed in just two weeks, transforming what was previously an awkward, dated space into a bathroom that perfectly fulfilled the client’s brief for something “fun, neat and modern.”
This transformation demonstrates how thoughtful space planning and carefully selected materials can create a striking contemporary bathroom that feels surprisingly spacious, even within the constraints of a compact area.
